Observation Report Concrete Observation - 1671 Words
Concrete Observation On Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 2:05 PM in a hallway on the second floor of the Wyatt Building at Vanderbilt University, seven students from a lab group in HOD 1300 were assigned a task to come up with a name for the lab group. The studentsââ¬â¢ instructions were to find a place to meet and then name the group. The observed group for this Participant Observation (PO) consisted of two females and five males sitting in an ellipse-like circle in a secluded hallway (Figure 1). Figure 1 On the table at the lower left of Figure 1, a lamp sat in the lower right corner closest to the couch. Adam put his laptop on the outer right edge of the table next toâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Tyler said, ââ¬Å"We should do something slick.â⬠While speaking, Tyler made direct eye contact with me. Once finished speaking, he leaned back to the right side of his chair and adjusted his body by pulling himself further back into the seat. Adam began running his fingers through his beard before saying, ââ¬Å"It is a very hard conversation to have.â⬠Once Adam finished speaking, Gracie nodded her head without saying anything. Tyler and I made eye contact again for approximately three seconds. Will adjusted himself in his chair and began sitting criss-cross, putting his hands on his knees. He then said, ââ¬Å"We have to do something about our group.â⬠While speaking, he made eye contact with Ashley. I then said, ââ¬Å"Maybe we should do something on teamwork.â⬠Wi ll and Caitlyn laughed after my statement. Caitlyn leaned forward and adjust herself in her chair by scooting back more in the seat. She then looked down at her laptop and began typing. Will then said, ââ¬Å"I liked that. Teamwork. One word.â⬠Will paused for a few seconds before and after saying the word ââ¬Ëteamworkââ¬â¢. While talking, he scratched his leg and began typing on his computer. He also made eye contact with Ashley again. Waving his right hand while speaking, Tyler said ââ¬Å"What if we made ââ¬Ëworkââ¬â¢ an acronym?â⬠As he spoke, his tone got lower and he waved his right hand around in front of his face. Research Methods for Business Decisions
Question : Discuss with Statistics and Research Methods for Business Decisions ? Answer : Introduction: Contemporary society has recognized and accepted the contribution of the social media on the communication, promotion or other influential factors to ease the implementation of the strategies for any organization. Social media has become a familiar term nowadays; the main aspect that has made social media well recognized because it can connect the maximum of the people in minimum time. Thus, social media plays an important role in the promotion of the service or the products. This report has been constructed to propose a research on the topic Impact of Social Media on Promotion of Bakers Maison. Bakers Maison is one of the popular bakery shops in Australia. It is reputed for its taste, quality and variety of the baked foods. The service and the products are key elements behind the reputation of this bakery; however, it has also taken the digital promotion very seriously along with the traditional measures (Bakersmaison.com.au. 2016). Social presence of Baker's Maison has helped to reach millions of people about their products and service. The research will be conducted to verify the projection that social media has left the great impact on the promotion for Baker's Maison. This report has followed the perfect structure for a research proposal. To consider the theoretical approach literature review has been added here. Apart from that, research questions and hypotheses have been included to make the research more valid and practical. An important inclusion in this report is the description of the methods of the data collection and analysis of that information. Along with the research process, expected outcome has been given here so that a transparent idea can be obtained from the research from the research proposal. Literature review: Discussion in the chapter of the effect of social media on the promotion has been started since the ending of the 90s and now it has become one of the major concerns for the experts. Research has been undergoing to make social media the best platform for the promotional activities of any organization. As mentioned by, Sashi (2012), social media actually tend to share the condition with the audience by means of audio-visual measures and it is proved that visualization of a product or service makes it more interesting and attractive to the viewers or the buyers. On addition, utilization of social media as the promotional tool is cost-effective when comparing to the traditional methods (Papasolomou and Melanthiou 2012). Moreover, Tuten and Solomon (2014), mentioned that social media is influential due to its properties of connecting the audience instantly. As customers can give feedback directly to the service providers, they can easily act on those feedback top make the service and pro ducts better. Furthermore, as different companies are now inclining to the social media as their promotional tool, consumers can easily compare the products of their preferred brand to that of the others (Laroche et al. 2013). Research questions and hypotheses Research questions important as it helps the researcher to reasons that have led to conducting a research. For the research on the previously mentioned topic will be: What are the main aspects that have made social media important for the promotion? How different components of social media can be aligned with the promotional factors for Bakers Maison? Why Bakers Maison should give the social media more importance as a promotional tool? Hypotheses: Hypotheses for this research are H0- Social media has impact on the promotion of Bakers Maison H1- social media is not influential for the promotion of Bakers Maison. Operational definitions and measurement: Operational definition involves the process of operationalization for defining a process that is essential to determine the nature of variables. Ary et al. (2013), mentioned that the intensity of the operationalization is prone to vary, that is why it can result in less or more operational definitions. Measurement of the variables is another important approach; the variable can be defined as the symbol that varies in terms of quality and quantity. Variable are two types one is independent variable and another one is the dependent variable. Dependent variables can be controlled or manipulated during the research and the dependent variable is the piece of interest for the researcher. Independent variables can influence the change of dependent variables. Researcher actually looks for the change in the dependent variable so that they can understand the fact that changes in independent variables are influencing dependent variables (Coleman and Ringrose 2013). Here, in this research, the dependent variable is the promotion, whereas, the independent variable is the social media. The researcher will ask for the outcome to know the matter that changes in the practice of social media is effecting the promotional strategy for Baker Maison or not. Research methodologies: Data collection and analysis Research methodologies involve the description of the methods that will be applied during the research. Research methodologies represent the systematic presentation of the procedures that are required for the completion of the research. Sampling techniques: As mentioned by, Levy and Lemeshow (2013), sampling technique is crucial for a research because it is responsible for obtaining the maximum valid response during the research. For this research, probability sampling will be conducted. Probability random sampling is the technique where there is no boundary, restriction and particular criteria for the participation. In probability sampling, samples are chosen regardless of age, gender, social, political and economic background. The reason behind selecting probability sampling is to gather as much information as possible from the service users or customers because opinion and thoughts from every section of the society can be counted in this process. Moreover, social media is known factor to all that is why it will not get complicated if the sampling is selected randomly. In this regard, ethical consideration should be followed during the sample to avoid any moral degradation while conducting the research. Method of analysis: Data collection is followed prior to the data analysis. Data can be collected by using two types of sources; primary sources and secondary sources; primary sources involve the surveys, interviews, questionnaire session, online surveys and field observation. In this form of data collection direct interaction with the samples is held. Secondary research is the extraction of knowledge from different available academic sources like articles, journals and books. This form of research helps to enrich the idea about the research topic; researchers come to know different aspects of that particular research topic that have been recorded for years (Matthews and Ross 2014). Moreover, a theoretical comparison is also obtained if the researcher makes a comparison with the previous scenario and present scenario. For this research, both primary and secondary sources of data collection will be followed. Using both the type resources will help to obtain an outcome that is practically and theoretically satisfied. For the obtaining of primary resources, the researcher will conduct an online service on the topic social media has a great impact on the promotional strategy of the Baker's Maison. Secondary data will be collected from different journals, articles and books related to this topic. The method of analysis involves two different approaches; one is the qualitative analysis that involves analysis of the case studies, surveys and observations (Yilmaz 2013). Another one is the quantitative approach that involves numerical and statistical analysis of the data (Ritchie et al.2013). To make the data reliable and practical a number of charts, graphs are included. The research will conduct quantitative analysis to obtain accurate information on the research topic. Research process: The research process is the explanatory documentation on the entire steps and methods that will be followed from the starting to the completion of the research. A research process is the illustration of the disciplines and norms, maintained through the entire process of the research. The research topic is first selected and then research methodologies are followed step by step. The procedures of research methodologies must be followed strictly to successful completion of the research. Pickard (2012), divided the research process into four different parts; inquiry, collection, organization and presentation. Inquiry reflects looking for the appropriate data; the collection is gathering of the collected information; organization seeks the analysis of the data. The presentation is the completion of the research. Expected outcomes: The expectation from this research is that it will be successful to assess the impact of the social media on the promotion of the Bakers Maison. If the company revise the result of the research it will get acknowledged about the future strategies for the promotion through social media. Proper implementation of the research methodologies will also help to gain valid data on the thoughts, opinions and expectation of the sample. Moreover, revision of the research cane is helpful for the reader to understand the emerging trend of the promotion and the factors that influencing the trend. Conclusion: The research proposal has been constructed on the research topic social media has an impact on the promotion for Baker's Maison. Social media has become very popular way to promote any service and this report has proposed a research so that importance of the social media for promotion can be evaluated or justified. The inclusion of the literature review has added a theoretical account of this report. In addition, research questions and hypotheses have given to draw a clear outline for the objective of the research. Research methodologies have explained the sampling techniques, data collection and data analysis methods so that an idea can be obtained by how the research will be going. research process has elaborately described the procedures. Expected outcome and its impact have been added to give the research proposal accountability prior to the research. American Idiot by Green Day free essay sample
Growing up in Malaysia is not necessarily easy. With local books, adults and the government trying to convince children how perfect, how great, how amazing our country is when you know otherwise; it never is. You get this sense of disillusionment when people are trying to convince you how perfect it is. But it never is perfect, is it? As to my knowledge, nothing on Earth is perfect. Listening to American Idiot by Green Day, I was able to relate. Especially since I became a teenager earlier this year. I started to thinkâ⬠¦ differently. The album helped me go through it all. American Idiot follows through the struggles and challenges of a young man in his late teens to his early twenties (his age wasnââ¬â¢t specified), who calls himself the Jesus of Suburbia (Jesus or JoS for short). The album starts with the song, American Idiot. It is basically the Jesus of Suburbia voicing his views on America. We will write a custom essay sample on American Idiot by Green Day or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page How it is ââ¬Ëcontrolled by the mediaââ¬â¢ and such. Next comes the song, Jesus of Suburbia. The song is split into five parts. Part 1 is an introduction to the Jesus of Suburbia. He describes himself as the ââ¬Ëson of rage and loveââ¬â¢ on a ââ¬Ësteady diet of soda pop and ritalin.ââ¬â¢ Part 2, City of the Damned, is an introduction to his home in the suburban wastelands where the 7-11 is the ââ¬Ëcenter of the Earth.ââ¬â¢ The lyrics, ââ¬Å"Lost children with dirty faces today/ Noone really seems to care,â⬠states that everyone in his suburban home only think of themselves. I Donââ¬â¢t Care, which is the third part of the song, is Jesus voicing his opinions about the world, hence, ââ¬Å"Everyoneââ¬â¢s so full of sh**/ Born and raised by hypocrites.â⬠The lyrics, ââ¬Å"I donââ¬â¢t care if you donââ¬â¢t,â⬠is him stating that since nobody cares about him, why should he care for anybody else? Thatââ¬â¢s a good point and this is one of the lyrics that I findâ⬠¦ relatable. The part is followed by Dearly Beloved. Dearly Beloved is Jesus speaking to the society, telling them to wake up: ââ¬Å"Dearly Beloved, are you listening?â⬠He then questions himself, wondering, ââ¬Å"Are we demented or am I disturbed?â⬠and, ââ¬Å"Am I retarded or am I just overjoyed?â⬠Sarcasm is also used in the song: ââ¬Å"Oh therapy, can you please fill the void?â⬠to cover up his cry for help. Next, is my favorite part and also the last part, Tales From Another Broken Home. ââ¬Å"To live and not to breathe is to die in tragedy,â⬠has two meanings. It means that JoS is not living; heââ¬â¢s merely existing and/or that living and not breathing, which is not caring to do something about our crappy lives (if it is), is a mockery to our existence. He plans to go to the city and see whatââ¬â¢s is there for him. The next song is Holiday. It shows his excitement in the city. He also went to a party and he was overwhelmed. Excited. The song is immediately followed by Boulevard of Broken Dreams, one of my favorite songs. While Holiday is a party, Boulevard of Broken Dreams is the hangover that follows. He wishes that ââ¬Ësomeone out there will find him.ââ¬â¢ Are We the Waiting is the fifth song of the album. I find this song most relatable as I can feel this sense of disillusionment. He is waiting for the unknown. He shows his disappointment to the city. It wasnââ¬â¢t as he expected. This song is immediately followed by St. Jimmy. It is an introduction to a new character called, St. Jimmy. He is a drug dealer who JoS meets in the city. Give Me Novacaine is the song that follows. It is one of my favorites and one of the most relatable. The song states that Jesus wants to be numb, ââ¬Å"Drain the pressure from the swelling/ This sensationââ¬â¢s overwhelming/ Give me a long kiss goodnight and everything will be alright/ Tell me that I wonââ¬â¢t feel a thing/ So give me novacaine.â⬠Novacaine is a substance the dentist use to numb the gums. The fourth line of the last chorus, ââ¬Å"Tell me Jimmy I wonââ¬â¢t feel a thing,â⬠is Jesus surrendering to St. Jimmy. St. Jimmy begins to control him. In Sheââ¬â¢s a Rebel, he meets a girl called Whatsername. Nobody knows her name therefore calling her whatsername, ââ¬Å"Sheââ¬â¢s the one that they call oleââ¬â¢ whatsername.â⬠He falls in love with her, ââ¬Å"And sheââ¬â¢s holding on my heart like a hand grenade.â⬠But alas, their relationship is a difficult one as shown in Extraordinary Girl. With his drug addiction and such, it is bound to be. Whatsername is sad and it is shown that she is a true rebel unlike Jesus. The next song is Letterbomb, in which whatsername leaves JoS with a letter. She breaks up with him through the letter. She was upset due to his addiction to drugs and he shows no signs of stopping. She says, ââ¬Å"Youââ¬â¢re not the Jesus of Suburbia,â⬠and reveals, ââ¬Å"The St. Jimmy is a figment of your fatherââ¬â¢s rage and your motherââ¬â¢s love.â⬠She meant that he wasnââ¬â¢t the same person she met and that St. Jimmy is just a manifestation of his identity. Wake Me Up When September Ends is the next song. It is a tribute to Billie Joe Armstrongââ¬â¢s, the lead singer of Green Day, father, who died of cancer in September. It is also about an adult reminiscing being a young adult. In the album, it shows that a heartbroken Jesus is hoping for better days. His father was presumedly dead as stated, ââ¬Å"Like my fatherââ¬â¢s come to pass/ Seven years has gone so fast.â⬠The second last song, Homecoming is also broken down into five parts. Part one is the Death of St. Jimmy. It shows that St. Jimmy could no longer reach out to JoS. It shows his metaphorical suicide. Part 2, East 12th Street, states that Jesus got a desk job at a ââ¬Ëfacility on East 12th Street.ââ¬â¢ Jesus though, wants to be free and get out of the city. He rather have ââ¬Ëcigarettes and coffee with the underbelly.ââ¬â¢ In part 3, Nobody Likes You, he bemoans his outcast state. In Rock ââ¬â¢N Roll Girlfriend, he gets a postcard from his friend, Tunny, who assumed that Jesus is still St. Jimmy. He shows off his rock ââ¬â¢n roll life. The last part, Weââ¬â¢re Coming Home Again, is about Jesus coming back ââ¬Ëto the Barrio,ââ¬â¢ his home. In the final song, Whatsername, he remembers the times. He says, ââ¬Å"I remember the face but I canââ¬â¢t recall the name/ Now I wonder how whatsername has been.â⬠He wonders what happened to whatsername. He states that she has been in his head for so long. He says the ââ¬Ëregrets are uselessââ¬â¢ and he will never turn back time. ââ¬Å"Forgetting you but not the time,â⬠the last line states. All in all, it is an amazing album. It is not Dookie, it is not Nimrod, it is not 39/Smooth, nor is it Insomniac. It is not completely punk rock either. But it is a great album altogether. It is rated no.1 best rock and metal album from the 2000s by Kerrang! magazine. Iââ¬â¢ve got to admit though, I have never written anything more that 1000 words in two days. I hope you enjoyed reading this.

According to the World Bank estimates, by 2017, this amount would decrease merely to 2 billion. Of the 2.4 billion poor during the year 2010, more than a third resides in India, who consists of almost 40 percent of the nationââ¬â¢s population. More than 50 percent of Indiaââ¬â¢s inhabitants do not have access to electrical energy and they utilize kerosene for light. Merely one fifth of those utilizing electricity consume more than 100 kWh each month, in comparison with the average UK domestic utilization of more than 900 kWh each month (Barnett and Biornsgaard, 2000, p. 82). Therefore, broadening access as well as ââ¬Å"meeting other development goalsâ⬠(Kiameh, 2009, p. 95) will involve a considerable raise in production ability, even by developments in consumption efficiency. This earnings inconsistency has to be taken into consideration while expanding a load contri bution contract. ââ¬Å"As the philosopher Henry Shue and others have argued, luxury emissions and not subsistence emissions should be the appropriate target of emissions reductionsâ⬠(Keljik, 2008, p. 78). While one openly justifies this distinction, the comparative burden of India is minute, and is most likely activated just further than 2020. For instance, a current scheme for a burden contribution management for environment improvement supported by nationsââ¬â¢ growing discharges from 2000 as well as their assets needs that the UK accept more than 30 percent of the universal improvement prerequisite during 2020, whereas India chips in more or less one percent (Kehlhofer et al, 2009, p. 66). A growth responsive analysis of burden sharing in countries does not mean development should be categorical or that improvement as well as expansion intrinsically diverges. In addition, both countries should focus on to the possibility of ââ¬Å"getting lockedâ⬠(Grigsby, 2007, p . 93) into flawed technologies and models of growth that will make it tougher to decrease emissions afterwards. Even a quicker look on India exposes discriminatory development in addition to a number of prospects for improvement in co-advantages. Despite the fact that India wants to develop, this sort of development will not chip in satisfactorily to growth unless it is comprehensive and prioritizes the requirements of the neglected. India has diverse evidence with respect to this issue. At the same time, as its scarcity level has dropped since 1991, ââ¬Å"absolute poverty and income inequalityâ⬠(Blume, 2007, p. 129) have remained more or less the

In James and David situation, the most appropriate conflict management strategy will be the Collaborating and Compromising strategy. According to Robbins and Judge (2011), collaborating is when both individuals involved are in the agreement to solve the conflict in order to make each individual involved happy. It is believed that David and James should talk about the issue and try get to the bottom of where the issue or conflict began. Therefore, when James and David come to an agreement to collaborate and solve the issue, both can be happy with the outcome because not one or the other made the choice alone; it was a team effort. In addition, using the compromising strategy has some similar effects to the collaborating strategy, however, in this case there is no win or lose situation. This strategy may be tricky because in order for this to work, David or James will have to make a choice to put the other person in front of themselves.
